Oct 28, 2025

We are very excited to welcome our new Canada/USA Regional Coordinator, Rebekah Kipp! Below is Rebekah's bio:
I am honoured and grateful to join FAIME as the new Canada/USA Regional Coordinator. Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply motivated to bridge across languages, cultures, disciplines, sectors, and geographies. In this role, I’m excited to help connect mining affected communities with experts and support the expansion of FAIME’s database.I currently live in Trenton, Ontario, Canada as a guest of French, English and Dutch descent on Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg, Haudenosaunee and Wendat territory. My home lies along the banks of Zaagidawijiwanaang (the Trent River), at the border of the Williams Treaties and the Crawford Purchase. With lived experience in French and English Canada as well as Central America, I’m excited to use my language skills in my new role.I hold a BSc in Environment, with an internship on watershed impacts in Panama, and a MSc in Freshwater Ecology from McGill University. I have diverse multisector experience, from working for government and the private sector, to academia, and more recently, Our Living Waters – a pan-Canadian network of freshwater nonprofits. In my spare time, I support community meal and refugee initiatives, and design my own origami models as a creative outlet. I strongly believe in collaborative work to find solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges, and I am eager to dive in to support FAIME as the initiative grows.
